• Certified Advanced Resume Writer (CARW)

Certified Advanced Resume Writer (CARW) was established by Career Directors International (CDI) as the gold standard of resume writing certifications for those professionals committed to working at a tier above their peers. The CARW is CDI's standard and first level of certification.

Earning the Certified Advanced Resume Writer (CARW) credential is the best way to distinguish one's qualifications from the average resume writer. The candidate for the CARW recognizes the importance of demonstrating a high level of competency as a resume writer and is committed to working at a tier above all others in the industry.

How it works:

• Candidate will initially invest $39.95 for the 50-page CARW Certification Guide (this will be deducted from the CARW registration fee which is $150 when approved to register).
• Once the review guide is acquired, a sample resume according to guide expectations along with a brief essay on candidate's writing strategy must be submitted to the certification committee for evaluation.
• Once the sample resume has been reviewed, applicant will be advised as to whether he/she has been approved or denied to move on to the CARW exam phases.
• If approved, candidate will be able to register for the CARW and the $39.95 fee will be deducted from the registration fee of $150.00.
• If, however, the sample is denied, candidate will receive constructive feedback about his/her sample as well the options to pursue mentorship with an experience resume writer or complete the resume writing course at a discounted rate. One may also, at his/her discretion, continue with self-study until he/she feels ready to reattempt the application. Each additional sample submission is $25. Any submission fees will ultimately be deducted from the CARW registration fee, not to exceed a $100.00 credit.

CDI membership is a prerequisite for registration. The CARW Certification must be renewed every two (2) years by earning 30 industry-related continuing education units (CEUs). This can be completed through a variety of activities such as: employment-related book reviews, career-related community service, completing related coursework or study, publishing resumes, and/or authoring articles / materials on resume writing. The renewal fee is $50.
