Description:

The New England Translators Association (NETA) is a professional organization of translators and interpreters with more than 250 members. NETA has members who translate in all of the major European languages and in many Asian languages as well. As a service to members, NETA sends out frequent job and project announcements via e-mail. There are no Certification prerequisites for membership. Membership is open to anyone who is a practicing translator, interpreter, translation editor, or teacher, and to those interested in learning about the profession. However, we do not have agency memberships; if you function as an agency, at least 20% of your "translation-related" or "interpreting-related" income must come from your own translation, interpreting, editing, or teaching.

Membership is offered on a rolling basis for 12 months and costs $35 if you enroll before May 18, 2008. Annual dues will increase to $50 as of May 18.

Full-time students membership costs just $20. Proof of status as full-time student is required. New members are welcome to apply online and enjoy the benefits as follows:
* Active email discussion list;
* Frequent meetings on topics of interest to translators and interpreters;
* Individual listing on our Website Services Directory;
* E-mailed job opportunities (thousands of dollars in projects and jobs announced);
* Quarterly Newsletter;
* Reduced admission fee to annual conference;
* Networking opportunities;
* Seasonal social events;
* Opportunities to get involved in programs to benefit translators and interpreters; and
* Advance notice of ATA exams plus opportunities for practice.
